SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON
The mother and father of the title family.
Photograph signed: "Fondly/Edna Best" and "Thomas Mitchell". B/w, 10x8. Typed caption affixed to verso. In part: "Edna Best and Thomas Mitchell, starring as the father, are shown here in a scene from Gene Towne and Graham Baker's production of 'Swiss Family Robinson,' for RKO Radio." EDNA BEST (1900-1974) played Elizabeth Robinson and THOMAS MITCHELL (1892-1962) was William Robinson in the story of a family who, while setting out for a new life across the sea, was shipwrecked on a deserted island. Mitchell, nominated for the 1938 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor (The Hurricane), won in 1940 for Stagecoach. Swiss Family Robinson was nominated for the 1941 Academy Award for Best Special Effects (Sound and Photographic). Lightly creased at margins and background (not at signatures). RKO Pictures stamp and press release on verso (no show through). Overall, fine condition.
