ANDY WARHOL
The artist in New York, 1975.
Postcard Photograph signed: "Andy Warhol". B/w, 6x4¼. Captioned on verso: "Andy Warhol, New York, 1975/Photograph by Pepe Diniz". Photo in the collection of Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, New York. Warhol, a former commercial artist, first attracted attention with his exhibitions of pop art subjects from everyday life (Campbell's Soup Can, 1965; Green Coca-Cola Bottles, 1962). He then ventured into experimental motion pictures, producing, among others, the seven-hour The Chelsea Girls (1966). The artist, producer and publisher is credited with not only reflecting American culture but helping to shape it. Warhol, who predicted that in the future everyone would enjoy 15 minutes of fame, died in 1987 at age 59. Fine condition.
