CHICKEN TETRAZZINI
Chicken Tetrazzini was named in honor of Italian opera star LUISA Tetrazzini (1871-1940). A classic dish of cooked pasta and chicken in a sherry-Parmesan cream sauce, it was created by Chef George Auguste Escoffier of The Savoy in London.
Postcard Photograph signed: "Luisa Tetrazzini/3rd January 1926". Sepia, 3½x5½. Printed by J. Beagles & Co. Ltd., London. If the saying "It ain't over till the fat lady sings"" bore any truth whatsoever, the curtain would have fallen as soon as Luisa Tetrazzini opened her mouth. She had a highly polished mastery of her art, with a sensational command of the most difficult and florid music. She was also witty and good-natured, with a flair for fun that made her splendid in comedic roles. Tetrazzini sang notably in Rigoletto and La Traviata. Fine condition.
