Document 215899 JUAN T. TRIPPE: PAN AMERICAN AIRWAYS The founder of Pan Am sells 1000 shares of his company. Stock Certificate signed: "J.T. Trippe" on verso, 1p, 11¼x8. New York, 1933 July 26. In part: "This is to certify that J.T. Trippe is the owner of One Thousand full paid and non-assessable shares, without nominal or par value, of the capital stock of Pan American Airways Corporation...." Signed in facsimile by Trippe as President of Pan Am. Trippe transferred the 1000 shares to Watson & White on verso. In 1927, Trippe formed Pan American Airways, the first international airline, which initially operated between Florida and Cuba. In 1928-1929, he expanded the route into Central and South America. He served as President of Pan Am from 1927-1968. Trippe pioneered the use of cabin attendants, multiple flight crews and hot meal service. He was enshrined in the National Aviation Hall of Fame in 1970. One pinhead-size cancellation hole just nicks the lower portion of the second "p" in signature. Fine condition.
