KATINA PAXINOU. Scarce inscribed signature:
"Best wishes/Dear George/Katina Paxinou/1958", 1p, 7½x10. Printed b/w
photograph and biography, 3¾x1¼, affixed at blank area beneath signature. The
Greek actress, winner of the 1943 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress as
Pilar in For Whom the Bell Tolls, returned to Greece in the late 1940s
and, with her husband, established the Royal Theater of Athens. From autograph
book, unrelated 2¼x2¼ b/w photograph and inscription and signature on verso
(light show through). Stray red ink mark to left of the "B" in Best, where
Paxinou started to write, but then wrote lower on the page. Lightly rippled.
Rectangular shaded area at lower margin. Overall, fine condition.
