RALPH EVINRUDE. TLS: "Ralph Evinrude"
as Chairman of the Board of Outboard Marine Corporation, 1p, 7¼x10½.
Jensen Beach, Florida, 1968 October 15. To Mr. J.J. Gotch, Ingelwood,
California. In full: "Thank you so much for the 1915 Evinrude ad as it
appeared in COLLIER's at that time. It was most thoughtful of you to send this
and I will see that our advertising department keeps it in its files for
possible use in the future in connection with the history of our company."
Ralph Evinrude was the son of Ole Evinrude, the inventor of the first successful
vertical crankshaft outboard motor. Ole had formed the Evinrude Motor Company in

others becoming in 1929, the Outboard Motor Company (OMC). By 1936, Ralph
Evinrude and Steven Briggs had purchased Johnson Motors and merged it with OMC
to create Outboard Marine and Manufacturing Company, which was renamed Outboard
Marine Corporation in 1956. Horizontal fold touches the upper loops of
signature. Lightly creased, else fine condition.
