Document 101606
CECIL LEWIS. TLS: "Cecil Lewis", 1p, 8x10.
Strand, 1950 June 17. On letterhead "c/o National Provincial Bank"
to Mr. Roberts. In part: "I cannot see what possible interest such
dreary details of authors, and little known authors at that, can be to
anyone...Howevere, if you must, it is true that BROADCASTING FROM
WITHIN was my first published book...I know that I made quite a decent sum out of
the royalties, and my recollection is that about 16,000 copies were sold. Not
because it was a good book, for it is terrible, but simply because it was the
first book about Broadcasting at a time when broadcasting itsefl (sic)
was new..." Ink correction in his hand. Complete transcription at
www.galleryofhistory.com <http://www.galleryofhistory.com>. Lewis, a
