Document 250771 APOLLO-SOYUZ Part of the Kapton covering thermal protection system of the Apollo command module. One square-inch fragment of the thin bright gold protective film that covered part of the Apollo command module. Not signed. Mounted on 5½x8½ card with the following description, in part: "The Apollo-Soyuz Test Project, known as ASTP, was a joint space mission between the United States & the Soviet Union...Covering much of the Apollo spacecraft was a very thin protective film known as Kapton. The bright gold Kapton covering was used as part of the thermal protection system of the Apollo Command Module. The attached fragment is a piece of Kapton removed from the Apollo command module crew compartment heat shield. This piece of Kapton orbited the earth from July 15-24, 1975 as part of the Apollo spacecraft involved in the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project." Fine condition.
