BEL KAUFMAN. Book inscribed and signed: "4-30-65/For Priscilla Platfoot/With warm regards/Bel Kaufman" on the first blank flyleaf, 340p, 5¾x8½, hardcover. Her book, Up the Down Staircase, Prentice-Hall, Englewood Cliffs, N.J.: 1964. Kaufman, a former teacher in New York City high schools before teaching English in college, based her novel on life in a large metropolitan high school. In dust jacket, which is slightly soiled and worn. Book in fine condition.
