Document 153710
THE THREE STOOGES: MOE, LARRY & SHEMP. Photograph signed:
"Moe", "Shemp" and "To/Our Pal/Alan/Sincerely/The 3
Stooges/Larry". B/w, 10x8. In their 107th short, Fiddlers
Three, in which the Stooges played musicians in the court of King Cole.
MOE HOWARD (1897-1875) was Moeth, his brother SHEMP HOWARD
(1895-1955) was Shempeth and LARRY FINE (1902-1975) was Larryeth. When
they ask the King's permission to marry their sweethearts, the King agrees, but
only after Princess Alicia has married Prince Valiant. This news upsets
Mergatroyd, an evil magician who plans to marry the Princess himself and rule
the Kingdom. Mergatroyd abducts the Princess, and it's up to the Stooges to foil
his plans and expose his evil doings. Moe, Larry and Shemp were the original
three Stooges. When Shemp left the act in 1930 to go it alone in films
without the Stooges, he was replaced by his brother Jerry Howard who became
known as Curly. In 1946, Curly suffered a stroke and retired, so Shemp
returned, remaining with the Stooges until his death in 1955. Lightly
surface creased. Overall, fine condition.
