EDWARD EVERETT HALE. Book signed: "Edward E Hale/Jan 22/1908." on front cover, 44p, softcover, 4½x6. Copyright 1893. His sermon, One Good Turn. Edward Everett Hale (1822-1909) is best known for his patriotic short story, The Man Without a Country (1863). Pastor of Boston's South Congregational Church from 1856-1901, Hale was Chaplain of the U.S. Senate from 1903 until his death in 1909. Fragile. Separated covers worn and soiled, attached together by three pieces of plastic tape. Pages shaded.
