Document 257988 HENRY A. WALLACE Only Vice President to serve in the same President's Cabinet before and after his VP term. Photograph signed: "Henry A. Wallace". Sepia, 4¾x7 overall, image 3¾x5½ (one surface). In 1933, Henry A. Wallace was appointed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt as Secretary of Agriculture, the same cabinet post held by his father, Henry C. Wallace, under Presidents Harding and Coolidge. He left FDR's cabinet in August 1940, after being nominated for Vice President. Wallace served from 1941-1945. Five weeks after leaving the Vice Presidency, he returned to FDR's cabinet as Secretary of Commerce, remaining in office through the first year of the Truman administration (1945-1946). Wallace was the 1948 Progressive Party candidate for President, winning 1.2 million votes (no electoral votes) of the 49 million cast. Pinhead-size stain at upper blank edge. Fine condition.
