CARRIE CHAPMAN CATT
On intolerance for war.
AQS: "Carrie Chapman Catt/1946", 3½x2 card. In full: "Every nation in the world/has had wars: Now war/is going out. Soon every/nation will refuse to toler/ate war." Catt, a dynamic speaker with a flair for organization, worked for women's suffrage on the national and international levels. In 1915, the former school principal and superintendent became the head of the National Woman Suffrage Association. After the 19th Amendment was finally passed in 1920, Catt founded the League of Women Voters and later headed the National Committee on the Cause and Cure of War (1925-1935). Mounting remnants on verso (no show through). Fine condition.
