WWI had begun in 1914, and this event was one of many held by the Royal family
in wartime to bolster the spirits of the British people. In 1920, PRINCE
ALBERT, the second son of George V and Mary (May) Queen of Teck, was created
Duke of York. When George V died in January 1936, Albert's older brother
succeeded him as King Edward VIII. After Edward abdicated to marry an American
divorcée in December 1936, Albert was crowned King George VI. His daughter,
Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor, reigns today as Elibabeth II. Princess Mary is
formally known as Princess Royal VICTORIA ALEXANDRA ALICE MARY WINDSOR.
She married the 6th Earl of Harewood on February 28, 1922. They had two sons.
Center vertical fold, lightly foxed, else fine condition.
