Document 178888 [BONNIE and CLYDE] Their last Wanted Poster: Both were ambushed and killed by Texas Rangers two days after it was issued. Original Wanted Poster, 8x8 card. Department of Investigation, U.S. Department of Justice, Washington, D.C., 1934 May 21. Not signed. Issued by: "J. Edgar Hoover, Director." Two b/w 2½x2 photographs, one of BONNIE PARKER (in front of car), the other of CLYDE BARROW (rifle in hand in front of car) in the center. Descriptions, relatives and addresses, aliases and partial criminal records of each are listed. The crime they were charged with was a violation of the "National Motor Vehicle Theft Act". Beneath photographs, in part: "Clyde Champion Barrow and Bonnie Parker constantly travel together and extreme caution must be exercised by arresting officers as they are wanted in connection with assault and murder of officers. Complaint was filed at Dallas, Texas, on May 20, 1933, charging Clyde Champion Barrow and Bonnie Parker with transporting Ford Coupe, Motor No. A-1878100, property of Dr. E.L. Damron of Effingham, Illinois, from Dallas, Texas, to Pawhuska, Oklahoma, on or about September 16, 1932...." On verso are printed addresses and telephone numbers of 30 offices of the Division of Investigation (which became the F.B.I.) across the country including Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, Oklahoma City and Washington, D.C. After four years of robbery and murder, on May 23, 1934, just two days after the date of this poster, Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were ambushed and killed by Texas Rangers near Arcadia, Louisiana.
