     Document 76068

SONNY and CHER
Congressman and Oscar-winning actress.
Sheet Music signed: "Love/Sonny &" "Cher", 6p, 9x12. "Train of Thought", words and music by Alan O'Day. "Train of Thought" is on Cher's third album, Cher/Greatest Hits, released in 1972. In 1963, SALVATORE "SONNY" BONO met and married CHERILYN La PIERRE. The two singers became a duo; first as "Caesar and Cleo", then as "Sonny and Cher". In 1965, the couple had an international smash hit, "I Got You Babe", written, arranged and produced by Sonny. The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour was televised on CBS from 1971 to 1974, when the couple divorced. It was the eighth most watched show on television in the 1973-1974 season, the top rated variety series. Each then hosted a separate variety series. Sonny's lasted three months; Cher's lasted a year. Even though they were divorced, they reunited for The Sonny and Cher Show, which was televised from February 1, 1976 to August 29, 1977. Sonny was elected Mayor of Palm Springs in 1988, the day after Cher won an Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Moonstruck. Sonny represented California in Congress as a Republican from January 3, 1995 until his death on January 5, 1998 in a skiing accident at Lake Tahoe, California. Lightly creased, else fine condition.
