Philatelic Envelope signed: "Gerald R. Ford", 6½x3½. Commemorating Ford's inauguration as President following Nixon's resignation, 10-cent U.S. Flags stamp affixed, postmarked Washington, D.C., August 9, 1974. Ford had been sworn in as Nixon's Vice President eight months earlier according to provisions of the 25th Amendment to the Constitution which required the appointment of a Vice President, confirmed by Congress, in the case of a vacancy in the office. Lightly rippled, else fine.
