On Kansas City Chiefs Football Club "from the desk of Lamar Hunt" stationery. To Alana. In full: "Thanks for your letter and your interest in the Chiefs etc. the requested photos & cards are enclosed [not present] and also I've ordered a Chiefs media guide - Thought you'd enjoy seeing their 'fearsome four' (defensive line). Y'all be careful." Postscript: "Have also enclosed [not present] 4 sets of Chiefs decals for y'all to share." Continually frustrated in attempts to gain NFL franchise, 27-year-old Lamar Hunt developed the idea and became a driving force behind the organization of the rival American Football League in 1959. He founded the Dallas Texans in 1960 and, in 1963, moved the team to Kansas City, where it became the Chiefs. In 1966, Hunt spearheaded merger negotiations with NFL.
