FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT and CORDELL HULL.
Partly Printed DS: "Franklin D. Roosevelt" as President and
"Cordell Hull" as Secretary of State, 1p, 23x19. Washington,
1938 August 23. Appointment of Jerome B. Hunsaker as a Member of the
National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics. JEROME CLARKE HUNSAKER
(1886-1984) was an aeronautical engineer who had made major innovations in the
design of aircraft and lighter-than-air ships. From 1916-1923, he was in charge
of aircraft design at the Navy Department, later serving as Assistant Naval
Attaché in London, Paris, Berlin, Rome and The Hague. Hunsaker served as vice
president at Bell Telephone Laboratories (1926-1928) and Goodyear-Zeppelin
(1928-1933) before becoming head of the Departments of Mechanical and
Aeronautical Engineering at MIT in 1933. CORDELL HULL was Secretary of
State longer than anyone in U.S. history (1933-1944). He was awarded the 1945
Nobel Peace Prize for his peace efforts as Secretary of State. Lightly creased
at blank areas. Fine condition.
