JOHN F. KENNEDY. TLS: "John Kennedy"
as U.S. Senator, 1p, 8x10½. Washington, D.C., 1954 February 4. To
Colonel James F. Wiseman, Baltimore, Maryland. In full: "Thank you
very much for your recent letter, and I sincerely appreciate your interest in
thinking of me. While I do not have any photographs available, I am enclosing a
card [not included] with my signature." Eight months after writing
this letter, on October 21, 1954, JFK underwent surgery for a back injury he
received during the PT-109 incident in WWII. Four months later, he
underwent a second back operation during which he almost died. During his
recovery, he wrote Profiles in Courage, which won a
Pulitzer Prize for Biography in 1957. Fine condition.
