     Document 16702

MILLARD FILLMORE. Inscribed signature: "For Mr. Gilbert Travis/With the respects of/Millard Fillmore/Buffalo, N.Y./May 10, 1867", 4¼x3¾. After his presidential term (1850-1853), Fillmore retired to Buffalo, where he was active in the city's civil affairs. He helped establish Buffalo's first high school, the Buffalo Historical Society, the University of Buffalo and Buffalo General Hospital. Lightly shaded. Tape remnants at upper edge. Fine condition.
