     Document 221336

OLAVE BADEN-POWELL. TLS: "Olave Baden-Powell", 1p, 5x8. Hampton Court Palace, East Molesey, Surrey, 1971 October 29. Returns autographed covers to Miss Grove. In part: "may I just mention that I have a great number of requests similar to yours and I appreciate it when they send postage...to do this is not only considerate and thoughtful but also very helpful to those of us whose mail is already very heavy and expensive...I cannot see that collecting envelopes of this kind are of very much advantage to anybody! They have not even got the value of postage stamps!". The wife of Boy Scout Founder Lord Robert Baden-Powell, Olave brought the Girl Guide experience to millions of girls around the world. Age 82 at the time she wrote this letter, Olave had been diagnosed with diabetes the previous year and ordered to stop traveling. Lightly soiled at upper margin. Fine condition.
