B/w, 8x10. Eagleton was U.S. Senator from Missouri from 1968-1987. On July 13,
1972, at the Democratic National Convention in Miami Beach, Missouri Senator
Thomas F. Eagleton was chosen as South Dakota Senator George McGovern's running
mate. Twelve days later, Eagleton revealed he had undergone electric shock
therapy for depression on two occasions. On July 31st, Senator McGovern asked
Eagleton to withdraw amidst a national debate over his health. R. Sargent
Shriver, former Peace Corps Director and the late President Kennedy's
brother-in-law, was named by the Democratic National Committee to replace
Eagleton as the Vice Presidential candidate. Fine condition.
