ALBERT APPONYI. Signature: "Apponyi. Alb", 1p, 5¼x6¾, affixed to 6½x8¼ sheet. ANS at lower margin: "This is uncle Albert Apponyi's signature for Hugo Mackay, with the former's hearty messages. Threse Gerber Apponyi Budapest 1928 March the 16th". Count Albert Apponyi (1846-1933) was the leader of Hungarian nationalists, serving as Minister of Education (1906-1910, 1917-1918). He headed Hungary's delegation to the Paris Peace Conference (1919-1920) and was Hungary's delegate to the League of Nations. Lightly rippled from mounting.
