B/w, 5¾x9¼ overall, image 5¾x8 (one surface). Reproduced image of a Photograph by Canadian portraitist Yousuf Karsh taken in 1944 while Mrs. Roosevelt was First Lady. Printed at lower right of photograph: "Karsh, Ottawa". When Anna Eleanor Roosevelt married her distant cousin Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1905, her uncle, President Theodore Roosevelt, gave her away. Eleanor, who served as First Lady longer than any other woman (1933-1945), became known as "First Lady of the World" for her humanitarian efforts, including getting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by the United Nations.
