The Trumans drive back to Washington five months after leaving the White House.
Photograph signed: "Harry S Truman". B/w, 9x7. United Press Photo caption, dated 6/21/53, affixed to verso: "Frederick, MD.- -Former President Harry S. Truman and Mrs. Truman go over a road map with Gas Station Owner Carroll H. Kehne, Jr. as they stopped here for gas today en route to Washington for the couple's first visit since he left as President Jan. 20." United Press Photos' stamping and penciled notes in unidentified hand relating to the publication of this photograph in a newspaper the following day is on verso. Truman's signature light but legible. Red pencil cropping mark at left on image. Lightly creased, lightly soiled in blank margins.
