Document 254436 RICHARD NIXON Ticket to a seat at Nixon's 1973 inauguration. Ticket signed: "Richard Nixon", 7¼x2¾. Original ticket to the "Inauguration of the President and Vice President of the United States of America, Washington, D.C., January 20, 1973". "Child Ticket $2.00 with stub attached" for the "North side of Pennsylvania Avenue between 7th and 8th Streets, Stand 24, B Sec., 5 Row, 16 Seat". On January 20, 1973, the temperature was in the low forties for Nixon's second inauguration. The oath was administered by Chief Justice Warren Burger. The theme of the inaugural parade was "Spirit of '76" (printed on verso of ticket, along with pictures of Nixon and Vice President Spiro T. Agnew). The cost exceeded $4 million. Neither President Nixon nor Vice President Agnew would be in office for the nation's bicentennial in 1976; within two years, they had both resigned in disgrace. Staple holes at center top edge.
