BENJAMIN HARRISON. Presidential Warrant
signed: "Benj. Harrison" as President, 1p, 8x10. Washington,
1889 April 5. A month after his inauguration, Harrison authorizes and
directs Secretary of State James G. Blaine "to cause the Seal of the
United States to be affixed to a Parcels Post Convention between the United
States of America and the Leeward Islands-in duplicate...." The Leeward
Islands were a British colony in the Caribbean established in 1871. At the time
of this document, the colony consisted of Antigua and Barbuda, the British
Virgin Islands, Dominica, Montserrat, St Kitts and Nevis. Slightly shaded blank
left margin. Slightly creased. Overall, fine condition.
