Document 84609
DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER. TLS: "Dwight D.
Eisenhower", 1p, 7x10¼. Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, 1962 June 28. To
Alice, Mrs. Lewis L. Strauss. In full: "Mamie and I had a wonderful
time at your home yesterday. The lunch was delicious and the company charming.
Both of us were impressed by your friends the Brainards and hope that we shall
be able to meet them again. I know that Lewis is in New York but I believe he is
coming back to the Farm for the weekend. When he comes tell him that Mamie and I
include him in our expressions of gratitude and give to him our very warmest
greetings." Alice's husband served as Chairman of the Atomic Energy
Commission (1953-1958) and Eisenhower's Secretary of Commerce (1958-1959) and
was a pallbearer at Ike's funeral in 1969. Slightly creased. Fine condition.
