 Free Frank signed: "Free/James Buchanan", 9¼x4 envelope. Postmarked Washington, D.C., date illegible. Addressed by Buchanan to: "T. Bower Esquire/Middlebury/Snyder County/Penna". Buchanan, a native of Pennsylvania, owned "Wheatland", a large estate near Lancaster. Lightly browned and creased. Stains at "B" in Buchanan and address portion affected.
