JOHN F. KENNEDY (1917-1963). TLS: "John
Kennedy" as U.S. Senator, 1p, 8x10½. Washington, 1953 March 18. To
Postmaster Joseph Finn of Boston. In part: "I am writing to you on be
half (sic) of Mr. Arthur T. Valicenti...who is employed as a carrier in the
Quincy office. Mr. Valicenti is a veteran of 24 years service and is most
desirous of obtaining the position of Superintendent of the Quincy office...."
Lightly creased. Folds, horizontal fold touches the upper portions of the "J"
and "K" of signature. Staple holes and light paper clip impression at upper
margin. Fine condition. With carbon copy of Finn's March 20th reply. Finn
indicates that the present Superintendent "has not reached the compulsory
retirement age and he has not indicated to me that he intends to retire
voluntarily; therefore, there is no vacancy there at the present time...."
Creased, chipped at lower blank edge. Staple holes and red pencil check mark at
upper margin, 1 word underlined in red pencil in text. Overall, fine condition.
