RUTHERFORD B. HAYES. Partly Printed DS:
"R.B. Hayes/Fremont Ohio", 1p, 5½x3¼. Subscription form: "Annual
dues, for year ending May 1, 1883, $2/Additional subscription, $8- Total, $10".
Written in ink (unknown hand) at lower margin: "#1001 cm owes $2/subs 8
10." Hayes, who served as U.S. President from 1877-1881, did not seek
reelection in 1880. He retired to his home, Spiegel Grove, in Fremont, Ohio,
where he died in 1893. Lightly creased, diagonal crease touches the "R" of
signature. ¼-inch tear at upper blank edge. Fine condition.
