TLS: "Sincerely/Jesse R. Grant", 1p, 7¾x9¾. New York, 1922 July 31. To Mr. C.B. Whittelsey, Hartford, Conn. In full: "More than thirty years ago I gave the last autograph of my beloved father that I had! I am sorry that it is not possible for me to add to your interesting collection." Jessie Root Grant (1858-1934) was the youngest of three boys and one girl born to Ulysses and Julia Dent Grant. A graduate of Cornell and Columbia Law School, he was the author of In the Days of My Father General Grant (1925). Folds do not touch signature. 3 file holes at blank left margin. Light ink transference at blank bottom margin. Lightly creased.
