BENJAMIN HARRISON
23rd U.S. President, 1889-1893.
Signature: "Benj Harrison", 3½x2½ card. Harrison defeated Democrat President Cleveland in 1888, the first time an incumbent President was defeated since Benjamin's grandfather, William Henry Harrison, defeated Democrat Martin Van Buren in 1840. In 1892, Harrison was defeated for reelection by former President Cleveland. On verso of card imprinted: "Miss Ross." Mounting stains on verso (no show through). Lightly stained at upper blank margin, soiled at lower margin.
