Document 27691 FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT "Please come up to Dem. Nat Headquarters...." Rare ALS: "Franklin D. Roosevelt", 1p, 8¼x4. No place, no date. To Mr. Philipp. In full: "Please come up to Dem. Nat Headquarters 57 St. & B'way next Tues or Wed p.m about 3 o'clock". This letter was most likely written by Governor Roosevelt during the 1932 campaign in the lower portion of a letter to him. The Democratic National Headquarters was typically located in the home city of the Chairman of the Democratic National Committee. In 1930, James A. Farley had become Chairman of the New York Democratic State Committee. That year, FDR was reelected Governor of New York. Named Chairman of the Democratic National Committee after the Party's June 27-July 2, 1932 convention in Chicago, Farley managed FDR's successful presidential campaign.
