     Document 30645

GROVER CLEVELAND
22nd and 24th U.S. President, 1885-1889 and 1893-1897.
Executive Mansion Card signed: "Grover Cleveland" as President, 4½x2¾. Democrat Grover Cleveland won the popular vote in three consecutive presidential elections (1884, 1888, 1892) but lost in electoral votes in 1888. He defeated former Speaker of the House James G. Blaine in 1884, lost to former Senator Benjamin Harrison in 1888 and defeated President Harrison in 1892 to become the only U.S. President to serve two nonconsecutive terms. The Executive Mansion card was introduced by President Grant shortly before Hayes became President. When Theodore Roosevelt became President in 1901, he changed the imprint to "White House", then to "The White House". Mounting remnants on verso (no show through). Fine condition.
