Document 16964 RICHARD NIXON Sending thanks for free passes to all 1955 National League games. TLS: "Richard Nixon" as Eisenhower's Vice President, 1p, 7x9. Office of the Vice President, Washington, 1955 April 18. Nixon writes to Warren C. Giles, President of the National League. In full: "I want to tell you how much Mrs. Nixon and I appreciated your kindness in sending us again this year season passes to the baseball games in the National League of Professional Baseball Clubs. We are looking forward to attending as many games as we possibly can during the season. Mrs. Nixon joins me in sending our thanks and best wishes to you." The National League ballparks of 1955 were in Philadelphia (the closest to Washington, D.C.), Milwaukee, Chicago, New York City (Manhattan and Brooklyn), Pittsburgh, St. Louis and Cincinnati. Nixon was an avid baseball fan. National League receipt stamping in upper left. Light yellow stain at left blank margin. Folds, one touches the "R" in Richard. Lightly creased.
