Document 260557 MINNIE PEARL "Howdy!". Comprises: (1) Photograph signed: "Howdy!/Minnie Pearl". Color, 3½x5½. Fine condition. (2) Original Art signed: "Minnie Pearl", 1p, 5x8. Pearl has signed inside her drawing, under which she has written: "It's a price/tag - $1.98/M.P." Folds, light horizontal fold touches the second "n" in Minnie and the "l". Fine condition. The former Sarah Colley Cannon of Centerville, Tennessee, delighted audiences for more than 50 years with her Minnie Pearl character, based on a composite of people she met, including a "funny old lady" in the mountains of northern Alabama. Known for her gingham dress, dime-store hat with the $1.98 price tag hanging down and her country humor -- which often focused on her search for a "feller" -- Pearl starred with the Grand Ole Opry from 1940, when she was the only female performer. She also appeared on the syndicated Hee Haw for 20 years. In 1966, she was voted Country Music Woman of the year, and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1975. Two items.
