GEORGE and BARBARA BUSH
Married 57 years and 164 days as of the date of this auction.
Photograph signed: "George Bush" and "With best wishes/Barbara Bush". Color, 8x10 overall, image 6x7½ (one surface). Barbara Pierce (born 1924) met George Bush (born 1924) at a Christmas dance in 1941. They became secretly engaged in August 1943, a secret that Bush later claimed was kept only from the German and Japanese high command. All the planes the future President piloted in the South Pacific were named Barbara. On January 6, 1945, in the First Presbyterian Church in Rye, New York, Barbara married "the first man I ever kissed". They had six children: George W. (born 1946), Robin (1949-1953), John Ellis ("Jeb") (born 1953), Neil (born 1955), Marvin (born 1956) and Dorothy (born 1959). Fine condition. Framed in the Gallery of History style: 16¼x24¾.
