QUEEN. Typed Contract signed: "F
Mercury", "B.D. May", "Roger Taylor" and "John Deacon". 3p,
8½x11, separate sheets. No place, 1976 December 1. In letter form from
Queen to Elektra/Asylum/Nonesuch Records, A Division of Warner Communications,
Los Angeles, concerning a contract between Elektra and Sackville Productions
Limited dated the same day. Queen agrees that "By reason of a long-term
employment contract, [Sackville] Productions is exclusively entitled to
my services as a recording artist throughout the world excluding the United
Kingdom...I will not perform outside the United Kingdom in any capacity
whatsoever...for any other person, firm or corporation other than Productions for
the purpose of making phonograph records...." Queen was formed in 1971 in
London. Vocalist MERCURY played the piano, MAY played the guitar,
DEACON the bass and TAYLOR the drums. Queen hits include "Bohemian
Rhapsody", "We Are The Champions" and "We Will Rock You". By 1991, Queen had
drastically scaled back its activity, causing many rumors to circulate about
Freddie Mercury's health. On November 23rd, he issued a statement confirming
that he was stricken with AIDS; he died the next day. Staple holes at upper
left. Lightly creased. Fine condition.
