6¼x8½. Washington, 1984 October 5. To Frank A. Spear, Silver Spring,
Maryland. In full: "Thank you so very much for the information on the
Bushes and the Walkers. To my knowledge they are no relation. You were very
thoughtful to think of us." Handwritten postscript: "How kind of
you!" George Herbert Walker Bush's maternal grandfather was George Herbert
Walker. On January 6, 1945, in the First Presbyterian Church in Rye, New York,
Barbara Pierce married "the first man I ever kissed". As of the date of this
auction, the Bushes have been married for 58 years and 170 days, longer than any
other President and First Lady. Barbara Bush is the only woman who has witnessed
the inaugurations of her husband and son as U.S. President. Slightly creased.
