Document 157276
ERNIE SHORE. Signature: "With best
wishes/Ernie Shore", 5x3 lined card. In 1914, pitchers Ernie Shore and Babe
Ruth were traded from Baltimore to the Boston Red Sox. They roomed together in
1915. On June 23, 1917, Babe Ruth walked Ray Morgan, the Washington Senators
first batter, on four pitches. Ruth argued with the umpire, was ejected and then
punched the umpire. Shore was the new Boston pitcher. Morgan took off for second
and was thrown out. Shore retired the next 26 batters for a perfect game. Fine
condition.
