BARBARA BUSH. Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Mildred
Thorp - Best wishes,/Barbara Bush". Color, 8x10 overall, image 6x7½ (one
surface). Ink note on verso (unknown hand): "1988." Mrs. Bush is pictured at the
Vice President's residence, the Admiral's House, 34th and Massachusetts Avenue,
NW. A sensible, down-to-earth person, Barbara Bush was an enormously popular
First Lady. In addition to her many duties, she crusaded against illiteracy
and supported programs to help the homeless and fight drug abuse. She is the
only First Lady to witness her son's presidential inauguration. No show
through from ink note on verso. Fine condition.
