President and President-elect thanks government official for his "felicitation on the outcome of the election".
TLS: "Calvin Coolidge" as President, 1p, 7x9. The White House, Washington, 1924 November 15. To Hon. Walter L. McMenimen, U.S. Railroad Labor Board, Chicago. In full: "My thanks in most generous measure for your kind letter of felicitation on the outcome of the election." On November 4, 1924, Coolidge had defeated former U.S. Ambassador to Great Britain John W. Davis by 15.7 million to 8.4 million popular votes, 382-136 electoral votes and 35-12 states. The Progressive Party candidate, Wisconsin Senator Robert M. LaFollette, received 4.8 million popular votes and the 13 electoral votes of his home state. Mounting remnants at corners on verso (no show through), lightly shaded at blank margins, else fine.
