GEORGE BUSH and GERALD R. FORD. Engraved Vice Presidential card
signed: "George Bush" and "Gerald R. Ford", 6x3½. Vice
presidential seal gilt embossed at top center above words: "The Vice
President/of the United States of America". Ford was the first appointed Vice
President, serving from 1973-1974 when he succeeded to the presidency after
Nixon resigned. Bush was the first vice president to be Acting President
when, on July 13, 1985, before undergoing colon surgery, President Reagan
temporarily passed the powers of the presidency to his vice president. Both
Ford's appointment as Vice President and Bush's becoming Acting President (for
approximately 8 hours) were provided for by the terms of the 25th Amendment of
the Constitution. Fine condition.
