ELEANOR ROOSEVELT. TLS: "Eleanor Roosevelt" as First
Lady, 1p, 6x7. Val-Kill Cottage, Hyde Park, N.Y., 1938 July 16. To
Mr. Carlin. In full: "Thank you very much for the copy of 'The Glory
of God'. It has just come from Covici and I shall read it with a great deal of
interest. I appreciate very much your sending it to me." Val-Kill Cottage
was built as a retreat for Eleanor by FDR on his Hyde Park estate in 1925. She
used it sparingly until 1945, but moved into the stone cottage after President
Roosevelt died. Pascal Covici was a New York publisher. Tape
stains at corners. Lightly creased.
