| Lot # 118 PRESIDENT GEORGE H.W. BUSH - WHITE HOUSE CARD SIGNED - Document 38775 |
|
|
GEORGE BUSH.
Card signed: "George Bush", 4x21/2. Presidential seal in upper left
and the words: "The White House/Washington" in upper right. Not an
official White House card printed by the U.S. government. On January 20,
1989, when George Bush was sworn in as the 41st President on the West Front of the
Capitol, he was the first incumbent Vice President to be elected President since
1836 (Martin Van Buren). He took the oath of office from Chief Justice
William Hubbs Rehnquist before making a 20-minute speech renewing his Republican
National Convention pledge to seek a "kinder, gentler nation." Ironically,
Bush's popularity would peak when he led the nation through the Gulf War.
Fine condition.
