     Document 17870

DAVID DUBINSKY
President of the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union.
Photograph signed: "David Dubinsky". B/w, 7¾x10. Official ILGWU photograph. The labor leader came to America from his native Russia in 1911 when he was 19. He headed his local union when he was 27 and became President of the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union in 1932, serving until 1966. Dubinsky pioneered initiatives in housing, pension plans and health centers. His union was one of the first to publicize its organization by creating a theme song for ad campaigns: "Look for the union label....". Right margin cut away, light crease touches the "id" in David, else in fine condition.
