Document 252224 Document 252224 LOUIS CHEVROLET The automobile designer, manufacturer, race car driver and founder of the Chevrolet Motor Company improves an aircraft motor. Rare, important TLS: "Louis Chevrolet" as President of the Chevrolet Aircraft Corporation, 1p, 8½x11. Baltimore, Maryland, 1930 December 29. On company letterhead to Mr. E. T. Asplundh, Pitcairn Aircraft, Incorporated, Willow Grove, Penna. Begins: "Gentlemen". In full: "After running the motor we have prepared for you on the stand, we find that we have a little more work to do on the oil drainage on account of the six degree running position, and this will delay probably two days more the shipping to you of that engine. Hoping this will not inconvenience you, we remain, Yours truly." Chevrolet, who founded the Chevrolet Motor Company in 1911, designed the racers that won the Indianapolis 500 in 1920 and 1921. Chevrolet Motors was incorporated into General Motors in 1915, after Chevrolet, having little confidence in his first car, sold his interest to his partner, William Durant. Chevrolet later became involved in motorboat racing and aviation before joining General Motors in 1936 in the division named for him. Chevrolet rarely appears on the market in any form. This is a fine example with aviation content. Folds, vertical fold touches between the "et" of Chevrolet. 1-inch separation at horizontal fold at blank left margin. Chipped at top and bottom right blank margins. Fragile. Overall, fine condition. SEE IF DOCUMENT 252224 IS FOR SALE RIGHT NOW!!
