Printed greeting signed on third page opposite 5¼x4 b/w photograph of the King and Queen of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Ribbon bearing the four colors of the Jordanian flag ties the pages together at left. Fine condition. With original envelope bearing two stamps picturing Red Sea Fish and a stamp commemorating the "2500th Anniversary of Iranian Monarchy", picturing King Hussein I and the Shah of Iran. Postmarked Royal Palace, December 10, 1975, three years before the overthrow of the Shah. Lightly creased and soiled, else fine. Hussein ibn Talal al-Hashimi was only 15 years old when his father, Abdalleh ibn al-Hussein al-Hashimi, was assassinated on July 20, 1951 by a Palestinian nationalist. His father had become King on May 25, 1946, when an independent kingdom was proclaimed. Hussein succeeded him on August 11, 1952, three months before his 17th birthday. He ruled as King Hussein I until his death on February 7, 1999. Hussein divorced two wives. QUEEN ALIA, whom he had married in 1972, was the third of his four wives, and his only Jordanian-born wife. She was killed in a helicopter crash in 1977. Later that year, Hussein married American Lisa Halaby, who became Queen Noor. Two items.
